Prospects were looking grim for our regular visit to Botanic Golf in Wanneroo with the weather forecast to be wet, windy and thoroughly unpleasant for any sort of outdoor activity.  So, the morning started with a good, long look at the sky to assess what the day may hold in store and, blinded by the sun with not a cloud in sight, we decided to go ahead on the off chance that the weather bureau may have got it wrong (again).

After a quick briefing the 11 car caravan set off from Burswood with Ben in the lead and Paul’s beastly TR (and not beastly in the good way) bringing up the rear.  Craig’s trusty, if bent, CE Coupe was moving around the pack like a blowie ‘round a barbie as he worked to find the best angle to snap a few prize pics of the procession, Leanne behind the wheel of course!

Off the freeway and onto Karrinyup Rd, we found the 11 had become 7.  Evan’s clutch decided it wasn’t going to clutch anything, let alone a gear so it was Christine and Brad to the (kinda) rescue and the map less first timer Craig in his Evo 9 hot on Christine’s tail.  You may ask “what of the fourth missing car”?  Well, so did we all until, on  reaching our destination, we discovered our favourite lost sheep had been hanging around waiting for us for 15 minutes, having (apparently) decided a scenic drive wasn’t for him on that particular day.  Maybe another scenic drive another day?

Finally we all assembled at Botanic Golf, Evan having finally limped the recalcitrant Magna up the freeway by force of will (and a little prayer) and were joined by the few that had gone straight to the venue.

After some quick, if highly dubious, matchmaking we broke into groups of 6ish and got down to some serious mini golf.  With the usual irreverence and hilarity that comes with our attempts at making our way through the course incident free we all managed, for the most part, to keep the ball on the course.  That is to say, there were at least no head or groin injuries from errant, airborne balls this time around.

Even with some suspect scoring taking place our regular champion, Nicola, was well in the lead of the pack until Brad, with a complete lack of skill and a magnificent display of pure luck, scored 2 consecutive, virtually impossible, holes in one and took the lead by a single stroke to win the day.  We suspect performance enhancing substances may have been used.

With the weather in our favour and a good turn out we had another brilliant day of mini golf, a top cruise and a good chance to get together for a bite to eat and catch up.  Thank you to everyone who came and made the day a success and enjoyed themselves along the way.  Keep your eye on the Homepage where the results will form part of our Competitive Results section.
